Delhi Unveils Double-Decker Bus Service to Enhance Tourism

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, inaugurated a new double-decker bus service aimed at promoting tourism in the national capital on Friday. Gupta highlighted that this initiative brings a modern, low-floor, 65-seater electric bus back to Delhi’s roads after several years. She noted, “These buses are completely electric and emission-free, providing an enriching experience for tourists visiting Delhi.” The service is part of a broader effort to revitalize the tourism sector in the city.

During the launch event, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Hinduja Group for their contribution of the bus through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. She emphasized the significance of this bus in establishing a fixed route designed to showcase the rich culture, history, and notable monuments of Delhi, which is expected to foster growth in the tourism sector.

Gupta further elaborated on the operational details of the bus service, indicating that the vehicle is exclusively electric, aligning with sustainability goals. The service will run a designated tourism circuit that encompasses various historical, cultural, and heritage sites in the city. The inaugural route commences at the Shaheed Smarak, passing through key attractions such as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

The Chief Minister stated, “We are creating a new tourism route that will allow our visitors to easily access landmarks like the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. Pre-booking will be available for these buses, ensuring tourists can enjoy a seamless experience.” This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure.

Delhi’s Minister Kapil Mishra commented on the launch, emphasizing the administration’s vision to provide a world-class experience in the metropolis. He remarked, “Today marks a remarkable occasion. The introduction of double-decker buses will significantly contribute to tourism in Delhi, allowing local residents to rediscover this experience.” Mishra also announced plans to introduce two additional buses in the near future, reinforcing the government’s initiative to support an influx of tourists in the city.

The bus service is seen as a step towards making Delhi a more attractive destination for visitors, blending modern transportation with accessibility to cultural heritage. Officials are optimistic that this initiative will not only enhance the visitor experience but also generate positive environmental impact through the use of electric vehicles.
