Delhi Teen Dies by Suicide After Jumping in Front of Metro Train

A 17-year-old boy tragically died by suicide on Friday morning after jumping in front of a moving metro train at the Uttam Nagar East metro station in West Delhi. According to police authorities, they received a notification from the station controller at 11:07 am about an individual who had jumped onto the train tracks. Upon arrival, officials discovered that the teenager had leaped from Platform No. 1 and was struck by a metro train arriving from the Dwarka side. The body was removed from the tracks prior to the police officers reaching the scene.

Identification and Background of the Deceased

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Najafgarh. As per reports, he had recently completed his Class 12 education and was in the process of preparing for further studies, attending coaching classes at a private institution located in Uttam Nagar. Authorities have mentioned that the individual was dealing with personal issues before the tragic incident occurred.

Impact on Metro Services

The incident led to a brief disruption in metro services on the blue line, affecting many commuters. The Delhi Metro had promptly informed passengers about the occurrence and the resulting delays in operations. DCP Metro Kushal Pal Singh stated that initial inquiries suggested the teenager was overwhelmed by personal distress.

Family Background

According to police, the young boy was an only child, and his father is employed as a contractual driver with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The family dynamics may have contributed to the distress the teen was reportedly experiencing prior to the fatal decision he made.

Post-Mortem and Legal Proceedings

Following the incident, the body was transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for a post-mortem examination. In light of the circumstances surrounding the death, inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police have commenced investigations to ascertain more details related to the events leading up to the young boy’s tragic demise.
