Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurated a Statue of RSS Founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar

On February 14, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, inaugurated a statue of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The unveiling took place at Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, marking an event significant to both the local community and the broader RSS organisation.

CM Gupta’s Remarks on Healthcare Expansion

Following the statue’s unveiling, Chief Minister Gupta addressed the media, highlighting the hospital’s longstanding commitment to healthcare, having served the public for nearly three decades. She expressed intentions for future expansion, mentioning plans to incorporate state-of-the-art medical technology. Gupta described the day as a proud occasion, noting the coinciding celebration of the RSS’s centenary with the installation of Hedgewar’s statue, which serves as a source of inspiration.

Legacy of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar

Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, often referred to as “Doctor Sahab,” was instrumental in shaping the RSS and led the organisation until his death in 1940. Born on April 1, 1889, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he played a crucial role in promoting unity and service within Indian society. Before his passing, he designated Guruji MS Golwalkar as his successor, who subsequently contributed significantly to the expansion of the RSS across the nation over the next thirty years.

Tribute to Sushma Swaraj on Her Birth Anniversary

Earlier on the same day, Chief Minister Gupta paid tribute to Sushma Swaraj, a former Chief Minister of Delhi and Union Minister, on her 74th birth anniversary. In her tribute, she referred to Swaraj as a “guardian of parliamentary dignity” and highlighted her contributions to humane diplomacy in Indian politics. Gupta expressed her admiration through a post on X, acknowledging Swaraj’s remarkable leadership and her lasting impact on the nation’s political landscape.

Gupta articulated her respect for Swaraj’s intellectual prowess and oratory, asserting that these attributes significantly elevated India’s reputation internationally.
