Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, addressed the attendees at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub and the Indian School of Agriculture in B.K. Palli Village, Madanapalle Mandal, on 2nd October. In an emotional moment, he urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to consider him as one of their own, stating, “Today, I request you to treat me as a son of Andhra.” His appeal aimed to resonate with the local community and emphasize his commitment to the region.

During his address, Ambani expressed his gratitude towards the state leadership for their cooperation and support in this significant initiative. He conveyed the vision of the project, which includes enhancing the capabilities of farmers and uplifting the rural economy. Ambani’s message focused on empowerment and the ambition to create sustainable livelihoods within the agricultural sector.

Ambani reiterated his dedication to the state’s agricultural development. He remarked, “Today, we are not just laying foundation stones. We are laying the foundation for rural enterprise, stronger villages, a more sustainable India, and most importantly, for improving the lives of our brother and sister farmers.” This statement highlighted his commitment to a more prosperous farming community in Andhra Pradesh.

Support from State Leadership and Dignitaries

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his support during the ceremony, notably embracing Anant Ambani on stage. Naidu acknowledged Ambani’s commitment to agrarian transformation in the state. This interaction underscored the collaborative spirit between Reliance Industries and the state government in pursuing agricultural reforms.

Prominent figures present at the event included Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and State Minister for IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh. Each of these leaders commended Ambani’s vision and the partnership with Reliance as a key element in fostering sustainable rural development throughout the Rayalaseema region.

Minister Kalyan, in particular, highlighted the importance of this initiative as a catalyst for modernising agricultural practices and improving the overall quality of life for farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The unified stance of these leaders emphasised the significance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in addressing agricultural challenges.

Vision for Sustainable Agricultural Development

Anant Ambani’s participation in this initiative is framed as part of a broader movement towards agricultural innovation and sustainability. The establishment of the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub is intended not only to advance horticultural practices but also to elevate the economic prospects of local farmers.

Furthermore, the commitment to creating an educational institution—as represented by the Indian School of Agriculture—aims to equip future generations with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing agricultural landscape. This educational aspect is critical for ensuring long-term sustainability and development in rural communities.

Ambani’s leadership role in this venture has been welcomed as a significant step towards revitalising the agrarian economy in the region. The combined efforts of various stakeholders point towards a future focused on sustainable growth and development within the agricultural framework of Andhra Pradesh.
