Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the foundation stones for development projects valued at Rs 264 crore in Mundka, emphasising the government’s commitment to integrating previously overlooked villages into the broader developmental framework. According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the initiatives comprise 49 projects designed to extend urban facilities to this rural area of Delhi.

Over the past year, the Delhi government has reportedly launched development initiatives costing Rs 1,600 crore aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure. Addressing a gathering in Mundka, Gupta outlined that these forthcoming projects will significantly improve connectivity, provide access to clean drinking water, enhance sewerage systems, and bolster education and healthcare facilities for the residents.

Government Prioritises Rural Development

During the event, North West Delhi Member of Parliament Yogender Chandolia, Development Minister Kapil Mishra, local MLA Gahender Drall, and Raj Kumar Chauhan, Chairman of the Delhi Gramin Vikas Board, were in attendance. Gupta remarked that past administrations had largely neglected village areas in Delhi, leading to persistent issues, including poor road conditions, broken drains, and inadequate educational and health institutions in these regions.

She reiterated her government’s dedication to ensuring that these areas are firmly aligned with urban standards of living and development. This new initiative forms part of a larger strategy that includes a budget allocation of Rs 1,000 crore specifically earmarked for village development, aimed at providing structured and rapid growth.
