Delhi Blast: Al Falah University’s Curriculum Committee member Dr Shaheen Shahid ‘brainwashed’ medical students?

Dr Shaheen Shahid, one of the accused in the Delhi blast case who is currently in National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody, used her position and power to ‘brainwash’ medical students at Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana as revealed by investigative sources. According to that source, Shaheen was at the third position of the university’s Curriculum Committee where her responsibility was to decide what would be included in the university’s curriculum and what would be excluded.

Apart from this, Dr Shaheen Shahid was also responsible for training medical students. Investigating agencies suspect that Dr Shaheen used to brainwash medical students at the university by misusing her position and power. According to investigative sources, no clear information was found about when this committee was formed. As a result, the investigators are trying to gather information about the work of the committee by questioning the remaining members of this committee.

Al Falah University under scanner

On November 10, a car carrying explosives exploded in front of the Red Fort Metro in Delhi. 15 people were killed in that explosion. Many were injured. Since the name of Al Falah University in Faridabad has got linked with the case, surveillance is also being kept on several doctors there. According to sources, investigation has found traces of suspicious activities starting from financial corruption in the university.

Since the name of Al Falah University was involved in the Delhi blast, especially the names of doctors Umar Un Nabi, Muzammil Ganai and Shaheen Shahid from that university, the rest of the doctors have also been brought under investigation. Search operations have already been conducted in the lockers of several doctors. Not only that, the investigators are also working to collect bank account details and other information of the doctors involved with the university.

The University is currently facing serious regulatory and security dues, including possible withdrawal of recognition by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and suspension by the Association of Indian Universities, as well as ongoing investigation that jeopardise its operational viability. Around 18 parents visited the university campus on Saturday and submitted the letter expressing concern over the future of the university. The parents sought intervention and clarity regarding the academic and professional future of their children studying in the university. A professor at Al-Falah University assured these worried parents that the university will not shut down.

Who is Dr Shaheen Shahid

Dr. Shaheen Shahid, based in Lucknow is a doctor by profession and was arrested after JeM’s terror module in Faridabad was busted on Monday (November 10) and an assault rifle was recovered from her car. Her arrest comes as probe revealed a multi-state terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, with the recovery of 2,900 kilograms of explosives and arrest of eight people, including three doctors from Al-Falah University in Faridabad. Shaheen was allegedly heading JeM’s female wing ‘Jaamat-ul-Mominaat’ is trying to spread its influence in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh Haryana and some parts of South India to create communal tension.

Police suspect Shaheen, a doctor at Al-Falah University, was connected to Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, another faculty member at the same university, who is allegedly part of what authorities call a “white-collar terror module.”
