Daisy Shah Recalls Inappropriate Encounter with South Indian Filmmaker

The CSR Journal Magazine

Daisy Shah, a prominent actor known for her work in Bollywood, has shared a troubling incident from her earlier career during a casting meeting in Mumbai. In a recent interview with The Free Press Journal, she detailed an uncomfortable experience with a South Indian filmmaker, which she says left her feeling uneasy.

During the casting session, several aspiring actors, including Daisy, met the filmmaker individually. She revealed that she felt distressed due to his inappropriate physical contact. Shah stated, “I was touched badly by one of the filmmakers in the South. He had come to Mumbai for casting.” This encounter reportedly took a toll on her emotional state, causing her to question the environment in which she was operating.

Shah expressed her discomfort over the incident, highlighting her general apprehension about physical touch. She articulated, “I’ve always been apprehensive about people touching me. The reason why I don’t get a massage done is because I don’t like being touched, even by a woman.” This aversion was exacerbated by a man’s touch during the meeting, which she found particularly unsettling.

Decision to Withdraw from the Project

Following the uncomfortable situation, Daisy decided not to pursue the opportunity further. She conveyed her feelings to the filmmaker, stating, “I told him, ‘I will get back to you,’ but I never got back to him.” Shah’s choice to walk away from the encounter signifies her commitment to maintaining her personal boundaries in a highly competitive industry.

The actor opted not to reveal the identity of the filmmaker involved in the incident, focusing instead on the emotional impact it had on her. This decision aligns with her wish to avoid unnecessary scrutiny and speculation while sharing her experience to shed light on the challenges faced by women in the industry.

Daisy Shah’s journey in the entertainment field began as an assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya. She made her acting debut in Kannada films before becoming well-known in Bollywood for her role in Jai Ho alongside Salman Khan in 2014. Her career has been marked by her performances in various films, including Hate Story 3, released in 2015, which contributed to her growing popularity.

Current and Upcoming Projects

Beyond acting, Shah has taken part in dance reality shows and television programmes, displaying her versatility within the entertainment sector. Most recently, she appeared in a web series titled Red Room, directed by Amjad Khan. This project featured other noteworthy actors, including Amit Gaur, Anuj Sachdeva, Reena Aggarwal, and Reeva Chaudhary.

In addition to her acting career, Daisy Shah maintains an active presence on YouTube, where she shares glimpses of her daily life. She currently engages with approximately 50,000 subscribers who follow her content. Through her online platform, she communicates her thoughts and experiences, connecting with her audience on a more personal level.

Looking towards the future, Daisy is set to take on the role of the female lead in an upcoming thriller directed by Palash Muchhal. This project will also feature the talents of actor Shreyas Talpade, marking another significant addition to her professional portfolio as she continues to navigate her career in the competitive landscape of Indian cinema.
