CSR Spotlight: Railway Innovation Convention Highlights Sustainable Mobility Solutions

The IRSE-IRSTE International Railway Convention & Exhibition 2026, a significant event in the railway sector, has successfully concluded in New Delhi. Taking place over three days at Bharat Mandapam, the Convention featured extensive discussions on railway technology, signalling, and telecommunications. Industry experts, policymakers, and representatives from global companies gathered to exchange knowledge and explore collaboration opportunities.

Jointly organised by the Indian Section of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) and the Indian Railways Signal Technologists’ Association (IRSTE), the event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Railways. The focus was on fostering innovation and advancement in railway systems, emphasising India’s goal to create a modern and efficient railway ecosystem.

The Convention’s theme, “Designing, Developing and Manufacturing AI-Driven Next Generation Railway Control, Command and Signalling Systems for a Viksit Bharat,” highlighted the commitment of Indian Railways to leverage advanced technologies for safety and efficiency in rail transport.

Inaugural Function and Highlights

The inaugural ceremony, held on 10th June 2026, was attended by key dignitaries, including Vivek Gupta, Member Infrastructure of the Railway Board, His Excellency Tran Thanh Tung from Vietnam, and several other senior railway officials. This gathering set the tone for a series of high-level discussions and showcases.

Entertainment was provided by well-known performers Sugandha Mishra and Dr. Sanket Bhosale, whose acts added a cultural flair to the proceedings. The inclusion of performers served to enhance the overall experience and engagement level of the attendees.

Throughout the event, more than 100 companies showcased their latest innovations in areas such as predictive maintenance, train traffic management systems, and intelligent transport solutions. This exhibition provided an opportunity for participants to display their advancements and developments in the railway sector, marking a significant point of interest for attendees.

Significance and Future Opportunities

The Convention came at a pivotal moment for Indian Railways as it undergoes a transformative phase of modernisation and capacity expansion. Innovative initiatives, such as digital railway operations and advanced signalling systems, are being implemented to enhance service efficiency and safety.

This gathering was also an essential platform for fostering international cooperation, with delegates from various countries engaging in discussions on technological advancements and collaboration opportunities. Such interactions are anticipated to strengthen ties among nations and support the exchange of knowledge in railway modernisation and capacity building.

Anshul Gupta, the Secretary of the IRSE Indian Section, highlighted India’s emergence as a global hub for railway technology during his address. His remarks underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of rail transport worldwide.

A notable feature of the Exhibition was the Best Booth Competition, where exhibits were assessed based on design, innovation, and visitor engagement. JMV received the Best Booth Award, while TATA NOVA and GG TRONICS were recognised for their respective second and third positions.

Organised by Captain Rahul Bali and Innovations India Advertising & Events Pvt. Ltd., the event’s conclusion suggested that India is poised to enhance its global presence in railway technology through continued international engagement and innovative partnerships.
