Palghar, Maharashtra: Leading housing non-profit organisation Habitat for Humanity India, in collaboration with Samsung C&T, welcomed 47 volunteers as part of their special volunteer build under its Samsung Village #13 Volunteer Build in Saware village, located in Palghar block of Palghar district, Maharashtra. This initiative is part of the Samsung Village #13 Project and is aimed at supporting the Warli tribal community with the construction of 15 new homes and sanitation units in 3 schools.
As part of the build initiative, 12 employees from Samsung C&T Korea and 35 employees from Samsung C&T India joined hands with families to build homes and engage with school students. This project aims to engage the volunteers in meaningful community work, creating awareness on housing, sanitation and holistic development. Through volunteering, employees are directly involved in the construction process, gaining hands-on experience and engaging with the local community while advancing the shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
The 15 new homes are designed to withstand heavy rain and harsh weather conditions, providing safety and privacy for families. The 3 school sanitation units will help improve hygiene and encourage a better school atmosphere, especially among girls along with capacity building sessions on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) to ensure sustainable practices across the community. Through this initiative, volunteers will also serve as advocates and ambassadors for global housing equity, raising awareness and funds to continue such critical interventions.
Commenting on this significant initiative, Mr. Anand Kumar Bolimera, National Director of Habitat for Humanity India, said, “At Habitat for Humanity India, we believe that a safe home is the foundation for a healthier, more dignified life. Our partnership with Samsung C&T for the Samsung Village #13 Volunteer Build and the housing and sanitation project highlights the power of collaboration in driving sustainable impact. We are grateful for their support. We are not just building homes, we are strengthening communities through shelter, enhancing access to improved sanitation and creating a pathway to a brighter future for the Warli tribal families in Saware village.
Through Volunteer Builds, Habitat for Humanity India brings together corporate professionals and the youth to contribute their time, energy and compassion to building homes, communities and hope. This build in Palghar reflects a shared commitment to inclusive development and social responsibility.
