CSR News: Mondelez Centre Inaugurated in Kharghar for Children battling Cancer

The CSR Journal Magazine

Mumbai: As St. Jude India ChildCare Centres prepares to open its largest ‘home away from home’ in Kharghar, the organisation today inaugurated the Mondelez Centre, a vital addition to this transformative campus. This 24-family unit centre, supported by Mondelez India, offers free, hygienic accommodation, nutrition, counselling, education, and transportation, giving children battling cancer a stronger chance to recover.

The Mondelez Centre, situated at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) campus, serves as a beacon of hope for underprivileged families travelling from rural India for treatment. Mondelez India’s generous contribution to the Kharghar facility’s capital expenditure underscores its long-standing partnership with St. Judes.

“For families from underprivileged families who must travel to big cities for their child’s cancer treatment, St. Judes is a sanctuary that offers more than comfort, support, and care – it provides them with hope. Our centres create a nurturing environment where young patients can recover with dignity. The new centre will extend this lifeline to even more children and families in need,” said Anil Nair, CEO, St. Judes India, at the launch of the centre.

“Mondelez India is proud to support St. Judes’ mission to provide holistic care for children fighting cancer. The Mondelez Centre is a testament to our commitment to creating brighter futures for these brave kids and their families,” said Samir Jain, President, Mondelez India.

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Samir Jain (President, Mondelez India), Ms. Ophira Bhatia (VP, India & Lead, AMEA, Corporate & Government Affairs), Ms. Manisha Parthasarathy (Chairperson, St. Judes), Mr. Anil Nair (CEO, St. Judes), and St. Judes team members. The Kharghar facility is St. Judes’ largest centre to date, designed to accommodate over 230 families at once. This unique 12-storey campus aims to support and empower more than 34,000 families affected by childhood cancer over the next 20 years.
