The renowned Mysuru Dasara 2026 festivities commenced with a ceremonial welcome for the Dasara elephant brigade at the iconic Mysuru Palace on Friday. In a display of traditional hospitality, the Palace Board extended a warm reception to the elephants amidst lively celebrations and performances by various art groups. Karnataka’s Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre participated in rituals to honour the elephants, conducting puja and showering floral tributes in accordance with customary practices tied to the elephants’ arrival.

The elephants’ arrival is a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the annual Mysuru Dasara celebrations, particularly concerning the grand Jumbo Savari procession, which traditionally serves as the highlight of the festival. These elephants are meticulously trained and prepared for a variety of ceremonial roles throughout the event, with significant focus placed on their well-being, dietary needs, transport, and accommodation during their time in Mysuru.

Deve Gowda and Harish Gowda, along with Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy and forest officials Ravishankar and Prabhugowda, among others.
