Northern Coalfields Limited to support Institute of Mining Technology in Singrauli through CSR

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The MoU was signed last week in Bhopal through which the Coal India Limited subsidiary will provide financial assistance of Rs. 76.56 Crore for construction of the Institute of Mining Technology in Singrauli, where the PSU is headquartered.
The institute will be a State Government Autonomous Institute offering mining engineering courses to the youth. The courses will be completed in a span of 3 years.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Director (Personnel) Manish Kumar, who has recently taken additional charge as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NCL. Functional Directors of the coal PSU, Arun Kumar Parmar, District Collector, Singrauli, officials from the Directorate of Technical Education (Bhopal) along with GM (CSR) were also present.

Meanwhile, a new 2.2 Km, 4 Lane Road from Madhya Pradesh border Balia Nala to Khadia Area was unveiled last week, which has been constructed under CSR by Northern Coalfields Ltd. The Newly constructed road consists of two new bridges at Balia Nalla and Double Barrel Khadia along with 5 small culverts.

CSR of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) in Varanasi

NCL signed another MoU last week with the District Administration of Varanasi under CSR for providing financial assistance of Rs. 13 Crore for construction of 20 Community Halls in Varanasi District. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chief Development Officer, Varanasi, Project Director DRDA Varanasi, GM (CSR), NCL and others.

Ongoing recruitment at NCL

Northern Coalfields Limited is currently inviting applications for Assistant Foreman posts for around 150 vacancies. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website of NCL at nclcil.in. To apply online for recruitment of Assistant Foreman, candidate has to provide the necessary details, upload documents and pay the fee. The last date of application is February 5, 2024.

CSR of Coal India Ltd

The back to back CSR commitments from NCL come at the same time when Coal India Ltd announced three initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility in collaboration with Educational Consultants Limited (EDCIL), National Skill Development Corporation and TATA STRIVE.
Last week a MoU has been signed between Coal India Limited (CIL) and Educational Consultants India Limited (EDCIL) with an aim to provide digital education through smart classrooms and computer laboratory up to 12th standard in schools in Coal Bearing States. It is estimated that 200 schools will be benefited and estimated CSR expenditure is to be incurred Rs. 27.08 Crores. A thousand smart classrooms have already been equipped under the CSR initiative of the Government Coal Companies.

Coal India Ltd signs MoU with NSDC

To provide the skill to the youth of communities around the coalfield, Coal India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to establish multi skilled development institutes in each subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). The overarching purpose is to equip the youth with requisite skills on the basis of baseline survey and market requirements.
The multi-skill development institutes will be operationalised in central coal limited (CCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in 2024-25 on pilot basis, and subsequently will be scaled up in other Coal India Limited (CIL) subsidiaries.

Coal India Ltd signs MoU with Tata STRIVE

To ensure gainful employment to 655 unemployed youth in the peripheral area of the coal mines, Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TATA STRIVE. This will cover training in the domain of assistant electrician, Commis Chefs, F&B Steward, Housekeeping & Front office associates in four centres – Nagpur, Varanasi, Kamrup- Assam & Chindwara. In a pilot programme run with TATA STRIVE on the same lines, 100% employment was assured to the trainees.
