CSR Project to Provide Mid-Day Meals to 5,333 Students

The CSR Journal Magazine

Flipkart Foundation, the charitable arm of the Flipkart Group, has partnered with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to launch a year-long initiative. The project aims to provide nutritious mid-day meals to 5,333 students in government and government-aided schools across Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh). This initiative is designed to provide meals to students, supporting their health, encouraging regular school attendance, and enabling them to focus better on learning.

Through this collaboration, students will receive wholesome mid-day meals under the Government’s Mid-Day Meal Programme. By improving nutritional intake and ensuring regular access to safe and balanced meals, the project is expected to strengthen children’s overall health, support attentiveness in classrooms, and contribute to their well-being and cognitive development. Indirectly, the initiative will also benefit more than 7,700 families and community members, bringing the total impact to over 13,000 individuals.

Commenting on the partnership, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group said, “At the Flipkart Foundation, we believe that good nutrition is fundamental to a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive. For many children, a mid-day meal is more than just food, it’s a reason to stay in school and pursue their dreams. Through our partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change across families and communities.”

Mr. Shridhar Venkat, CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, said: “At The Akshaya Patra Foundation, we believe that a nutritious meal is not only about addressing hunger—it is a catalyst for learning, growth, and empowerment. This partnership with Flipkart Foundation reaffirms the power of collective action in shaping a healthier, more educated, and more confident generation of children. By ensuring that thousands of students in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat receive daily mid-day meals, we are working together to reduce school dropouts, foster cognitive development, and create lasting community impact. We are deeply grateful to Flipkart Foundation for joining hands with us in this journey of nourishing young minds and nurturing brighter futures.”

This collaboration reaffirms the shared vision of Flipkart Foundation and The Akshaya Patra Foundation to improve nutrition and education for children, while ensuring the programme remains a reliable and sustainable support system for students.
