CSR Initiative Organises Nationwide Health Checkup Camps

The CSR Journal Magazine

Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) Limited, recently conducted health check-up camps for truck drivers across 20+ key locations under its flagship Eicher Highway Superheroes Program. Organized in collaboration with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), the initiative reached over 900 drivers across Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The camps offered general health checkups, eye screenings, and road safety training sessions.

Eicher Trucks and Buses’ driver wellbeing program is designed to support drivers. It offers a win-win for operators as drivers are a critical link for road safety, operational efficiency and long-term truck and bus Uptime. Aligned with Eicher’s larger vision, of modernising trucking in India, the initiative underscores the brand’s commitment to building a healthier, safer, and more sustainable transportation ecosystem through community-focused interventions.

Commenting on the initiative, Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VECV said, “Truck and Bus drivers form the backbone of our logistics system. At Eicher, we salute these highway heroes who tirelessly keep our economy running. We believe driver well-being is central to building a safe and sustainable transport ecosystem. Through the Eicher Highway Superheroes Program, we aim to provide Truck and Bus Drivers with access to essential health services, including eye care. This initiative aligns with our commitment to supporting drivers and enhancing road safety in India.”

Launched in 2016, the Eicher Highway Superheroes Program aims to make advanced, affordable eye screening services accessible to truck drivers, ensuring their health and improving road safety. Currently, Eicher operates through 13 EMV (Eicher Eye and Ear Screening Mobile Vans) along with a fixed center in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Delhi. The company also has onboarded 10 hospital partners, along with collaborations with 2500 transporters and partnership with Government Transport Departments across 11 states to ensure the wellbeing of the drivers’ community. Since its inception, the program has benefited over 2.7 lakh drivers from all states across India.

To provide an all-encompassing growth of the drivers, Eicher has established the Phoenix-Eicher Institute of Driver Training and Research in Latur, Maharashtra which aims to upskill the driver fraternity and enhance their core competencies through professional driver training programs.
