A major political and religious controversy has flared up in Murshidabad, West Bengal, as Humayun Kabir, the sitting MLA from Bharatpur, has publicly accused his own party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), of obstructing his plans to lay the foundation stone for a Babri Masjid on December 6th. The explosive remarks come just ahead of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s scheduled visit to the district.

Allegations of TMC Interference and Administrative Hurdle
Kabir, who has repeatedly made headlines recently from announcing his own party formation to holding high-profile meetings with Abhishek Banerjee—is now singularly focused on the slogan, “Babri Masjid must be built.”
The latest setback, according to the MLA, stems directly from administrative resistance allegedly backed by the ruling party. “The administration is creating hurdles. The obstruction is coming with the backing of the ruling party,” Kabir stated, specifically criticizing the conduct of the Beldanga Inspector-in-Charge (IC).
He highlighted a piece of land in Rejinagar, originally inaugurated as an industrial park by former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, which has lain unused for 14 years. Questioning the double standard, Kabir challenged, “If building a Jagannath Temple creates no controversy, then what is the controversy with the Babri Masjid?”

The December 6th Deadline and Highway Blockade Threat
Humayun Kabir has firmly declared that the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Babri Masjid will proceed on December 6th in Murshidabad. Issuing a stark challenge to the authorities, he warned, “The foundation stone of the Babri Masjid will be laid on the 6th. I will block NH-34 from Rejinagar to Baharampur. Let any power try to stop me.”
When questioned whether he would attend the Chief Minister’s program in Murshidabad, a guarded Kabir simply replied, “I have been informed verbally by the party. It is not the time to say if I will go. I won’t answer that now.”
