Construction of ‘Babri’ Replica to Begin by February 15, 2026; Humayun Kabir Finalizes Bengaluru Firm

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bharatpur MLA and leader of the newly formed Janata Unnayan Party, Humayun Kabir, has officially announced that the construction of the controversial Babri Masjid replica in Murshidabad will commence by February 15, 2026. This announcement comes following his visit to Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on Monday, where he finalized technical details for the project.

Partnership with Bengaluru Construction Firm

Kabir revealed that the responsibility for building the mosque has been entrusted to a specialized firm based in Bengaluru. The company’s executives arrived in Kolkata on Monday to hold high-level discussions with the MLA. “A technical team from the Bengaluru agency will visit the site in Beldanga on Tuesday to conduct essential soil testing,” Kabir told reporters. The main structure is designed to sit 80 feet away from the National Highway to comply with safety and infrastructure norms.

Mass Spiritual Recitation Before Ground breaking

In a bid to mobilize the community, Kabir announced that the project will be preceded by a massive religious gathering. A “Laksha Kanthe Quran Path” (the recitation of the Quran by 100,000 voices) will be organized at the 30-bigha site in Beldanga. This event is intended to serve as a spiritual inauguration before physical labor begins in mid-February.

Political Showdown at Brigade Parade Ground

While inspecting the Brigade Parade Ground for a planned mega-rally of his Janata Unnayan Party, Kabir faced significant hostility. Protesters, identifying themselves as Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters, surrounded his vehicle, chanting “Go Back” and accusing him of acting as an agent for the opposition.

• Expanded Electoral Ambitions: Undeterred by the protests, Kabir announced that his party is scaling up its campaign for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. He now intends to field candidates in 182 seats, up from the previously announced 135.
• Mega Rally Target: Kabir has set a target of gathering 10 lakh people at the Brigade Parade Ground for a rally scheduled for late January or early February.

Project Background

The “Babri” replica project first gained national attention on December 6, 2025, when Kabir laid the foundation stone on the anniversary of the original mosque’s demolition in Ayodhya. The project, which Kabir claims is funded by public donations and private industrialists, is part of a larger complex estimated at ₹300 crore, set to include an Islamic hospital, a medical college, and educational facilities. The project was the primary reason for Kabir’s suspension from the Trinamool Congress, which accused him of “communal politics.”
