The CSR Journal Magazine

The advance bookings for the film Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend have reportedly reached Rs 4.88 crore within a single day. This significant figure reflects the high demand for the film, which features Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has sold nearly 85,000 tickets across India, indicating a strong interest from audiences ahead of its release on November 5.

As of 8 am on Wednesday, the film has recorded bookings in 104 cities. Notably, after excluding block bookings, the earnings stand at Rs 3.05 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. This early data suggests that Ramayana is poised to be one of the most anticipated releases in Indian cinema this Diwali.

Delhi-NCR and Mumbai Lead Bookings

The Delhi-NCR region is currently at the forefront of advance bookings, generating Rs 1.42 crore from the sale of 18,674 tickets. Mumbai follows closely, contributing Rs 1.01 crore from 14,823 tickets sold. Other cities such as Pune, Kolkata, and Bengaluru have also made notable contributions to the overall ticket sales.

The Hindi version of the film has emerged as the most popular, accounting for Rs 4.62 crore of the total earnings. Meanwhile, the Kannada dubbed version has collected Rs 24.92 lakh, and the Telugu version has earned Rs 47,400. These figures illustrate the film’s wide appeal across different linguistic demographics in India.

For those seeking a premium cinematic experience, recliner seats at PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai’s Lower Parel are priced at Rs 2,770 for select IMAX 3D screenings on November 5 and 6. The earliest showtime in Mumbai is set for 6.45 am, with additional screenings scheduled as late as 11.45 pm.

Production and Distribution Details

Bookings for Ramayana opened on Tuesday, just over two weeks before the film’s official release. Initially, the rollout of ticket sales was reportedly slow due to a dispute over distribution shares between Dharma Productions and exhibitors. However, the filmmakers later confirmed that bookings would be available nationwide, allowing audiences to secure their seats in advance.

In addition to the ticket sales, the film’s promotional strategy includes the release of a video titled Rise of Asura, featuring Yash in the role of Ravana. The video showcases a dance performance set to the ‘Ravana Tandav’, with vocals by Vishal Dadlani and lyrics by Kumar Vishwas. This promotional effort is aimed at generating further excitement ahead of the film’s release.

Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend is a two-part adaptation that features a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Other notable actors such as Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Anupam Kher, and Rakul Preet Singh also contribute to the ensemble. The film is produced by Prime Focus and Monster Mind Creations, with distribution rights for international markets held by Sony Pictures International.

As Diwali approaches, the first-day booking figures provide an early indication of the film’s theatrical ambitions. The true test of its success will ultimately occur when audiences experience the film on the big screen.
