CM Mohan Yadav Takes Part in Self-Enumeration as Census Starts in Madhya Pradesh

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Census process has officially begun in Madhya Pradesh, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participating in the self-enumeration process on April 16. He urged the citizens of the state to engage actively in this important exercise. In his statement, CM Yadav highlighted the significance of the census in shaping future developmental strategies for essential facilities like schools and hospitals.

He emphasised that the digital self-enumeration period will run from April 16 to April 30, providing convenient access for residents to complete the process. CM Yadav stated, “I want to make an appeal that we all should actively participate in this digital census,” underlining that comprehensive participation will contribute to creating effective developmental roadmaps.

Details of the Census Phases

The upcoming Census 2027 is set to be India’s 16th census and will be conducted in two significant phases. Phase I will comprise Houselisting and Housing Census, scheduled to occur in two stages. The first phase, which aims to gather data on housing conditions and household amenities, will take place from April to September 2026. It is crucial that citizens take part during the 15-day self-enumeration window preceding this phase, which is necessary for accurate data collection.

Phase II, known as Population Enumeration, will follow in February 2027. Notably, specific areas like the Union Territory of Ladakh and certain remote regions in Jammu and Kashmir will have their enumeration conducted in September 2027. This arrangement highlights the government’s commitment to ensure every segment of the population is accounted for in the census.

Workshop on Tribal Welfare Initiated by State Government

On the same day, CM Yadav and Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel inaugurated a ‘State-Level Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Workshop’ at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal. This workshop aims to discuss strategies for enhancing welfare initiatives for the tribal populations in the state, which is the largest in India.

During the event, CM Yadav noted that a significant portion of the state and central budgets is dedicated to the welfare and development of tribal communities. He insisted that efforts are being made to elevate the tribal budget across various sectors to facilitate comprehensive support for this demographic.

Furthermore, through the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) scheme, the government has introduced multiple resources aimed at assisting tribal citizens. CM Yadav expressed optimism that the societal development of tribal communities will progress concurrently with other communities in the region, thereby promoting enhanced inclusivity.

The workshop is expected to last for two days and will include participation from government officials as well as social sector representatives, all geared towards improving the welfare of tribal residents in Madhya Pradesh.
