Rajasthan’s tribal belt is under tension because of an alleged religious conversion incident. This incident is of Kalinzara village in Kushalgarh police station limits of Banswara district, Rajasthan. Even though the state has enacted an anti-conversion law in 2025, this latest incident has triggered concerns in the village and nearby areas.

Clash between groups

After information of suspected religious conversion broke, clashes broke out between various groups. What spread as a rumour, later turned into a violent clash, three young men were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospital for immediate treatment. Meanwhile police identified the culprits and arrested the individual behind the incident.

Video of alleged conversion event

A video of the event has gone viral where about 150 people were seen participating in an event that supposedly was a religious gathering. Even though people seen in the video denied any conversion activity, they said it was a prayer meeting. But the complainant has alleged that during this meeting, many tribal people were asked to take bath in holy water and were being converted.

Key accused arrested

Taking swift action, police have arrested the key accused in the case, he has been identified as Anil Rawat, Atish, Devchand and Nilesh alias Ismail. Currently, raids are happening in different places, and the suspects are being traced, and also additional forces have been deployed, so that the law-and-order situation is maintained in the area.

Authorities have filed a case under the Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2025. Besides, police have confirmed that even if it was a prayer meeting no permission has been taken for the gathering. Meanwhile, locals have denied the conversion allegation and said it to be simply a prayer meeting.
