The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will hold special examinations for Class 12 students residing in West Asian countries. This decision follows the cancellation of the board examinations for the year 2026 due to the ongoing crisis in the region. A notification issued on September 15, 2026, confirmed that the examinations in 40 subjects, including both academic and skill-based courses, were not conducted as scheduled.

Previously, on March 27, 2026, the Board outlined an Assessment Scheme that allowed regular candidates from these countries to receive provisional results. This was followed by the declaration of results on May 13, 2026, for these students. Similar results were later issued for private candidates under the same scheme, aiming to accommodate those who were dissatisfied with their academic performance.

In light of the circumstances, CBSE has decided to offer an opportunity for all eligible Class 12 candidates in West Asia, whose results were declared through the Assessment Scheme, to take fresh examinations in the same 40 subjects for which the original exams were annulled.

Eligibility Criteria for Candidates

To qualify for the upcoming exams, students from CBSE-affiliated schools in West Asian countries must have submitted their List of Candidates (LOC) for the Main Examinations 2026 and have their results announced under the Assessment Scheme. Candidates can choose the subjects in which they wish to appear, and importantly, the results from these fresh examinations will supersede any previous performances.

Private candidates from the same countries who had also submitted their examination forms for the Main Examinations 2026 are equally eligible and may select subjects of their choice. Similar to regular candidates, the final results from this fresh examination will replace earlier outcomes. It is necessary for candidates to personally submit their examination forms within the designated timeframe.

The submission window for the LOC for regular candidates, along with examination forms for private candidates, will be open from September 22 to September 26, 2026. CBSE indicated that the specific examination dates and timetable will be shared after the submission period concludes. Importantly, no examination fee will be required for these tests.

Examination Locations and Additional Details

The special examinations will only be conducted in designated West Asian countries, which include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. No examinations will be held in any other locations, and centres for these examinations will remain as previously established.

It is crucial to note that candidates who were absent during the Main Examinations 2026 for any reason will not be allowed to participate in these special examinations. Additionally, new candidates who did not take part in the earlier exams will also be ineligible. No changes in subjects will be permitted, and examinations will not be administered in subjects that were previously held by the Board.

CBSE has advised schools in these regions to ensure that the notification is effectively communicated to all relevant Class 12 candidates and to provide guidance as necessary. The link for submitting the LOC and examination forms will be made available on the official CBSE website, and adherence to the set schedule is essential as no extensions will be granted.
