CBSE Invites Applications For 2027 Class 10 And Class 12 Private Candidates

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the application process for private candidates intending to take the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in 2027. The online application window opened on October 8 and will remain accessible without a late fee until October 23, 2026. This provides eligible students with an opportunity to register for their examinations in a timely manner.

Eligibility Criteria For Candidates

Students looking to register must meet specific criteria set by the CBSE. Eligible candidates include those declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 board examination, those placed in Compartment for the 2026 examination, and students who were declared Fail or Essential Repeat from 2021 to 2026. Additionally, students who passed in 2026 but wish to improve their scores in certain subjects can also apply. Furthermore, those who received a roll number but could not sit for the 2026 examinations due to medical reasons, excluding attendance shortages, are permitted to register.

For students in Class 10, those placed in compartment in two subjects can opt for five, six, or seven subjects. In the case of Class 12, students in compartment can apply for all subjects they appeared for in the previous examination.

The application must be submitted online through the private candidate section of the CBSE website. Candidates are allowed only one application each, and a valid email address is required for verification via OTP. For those who appeared in 2026, their details will be auto-generated, while students from 2025 or earlier must manually enter their roll number and year of passing.

Fees And Payment Information

For the fee structure, students will incur a charge of Rs 320 per additional subject within India. In Nepal, the fee is set at Rs 1,100, while candidates residing in other countries will need to pay Rs 2,200 per subject. Additionally, Class 12 candidates will face a practical fee of Rs 160 for each practical subject in India, Rs 175 in Nepal, and Rs 375 for international candidates.

It is important to note the deadlines associated with the application process. The window for applications without a late fee is from October 8 until October 23, 2026. Following this period, candidates can submit applications with a late fee of Rs 2,000 from October 24 to October 30, 2026. All fees must be settled online via internet banking, UPI, or through debit or credit cards, as offline applications or payments will not be accepted.

Candidates should choose their preferred examination city carefully, as the centre allotted by the board cannot be altered after submission. Each candidate will be assigned a fresh roll number for the 2027 board examination. The examinations by CBSE are scheduled to take place in February, March, and April of 2027, further emphasising the need for timely registration.

Final Notes On Examination Process

The CBSE’s transparent process encourages students to prepare adequately for their upcoming examinations by providing clear guidelines on registration, eligibility, and payment options. The board is committed to facilitating a smooth examination experience for private candidates, thus enabling them to improve their academic prospects.

As the registration progresses, the organisation expects a significant number of candidates to participate, reflecting the board’s focus on inclusive education. This initiative, along with the clarity of the eligibility criteria and fee structure, aims to aid students in their quest for academic success.
