Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary revealed that the state government will now disburse social security pension amounts directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts on the 10th of each month. This announcement was made during a programme held on September 10, at Gangta Mor in Munger’s Haveli Kharagpur. The initiative aims to streamline payments and ensure timely access to funds for over 1 crore beneficiaries.

At the event, the Chief Minister also reported that Rs 1,233.87 crore was transferred as pension for August, benefiting 105.68 lakh individuals at a rate of Rs 1,100 each. The addition of 98,896 new beneficiaries under the scheme highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to expanding social security provisions.

Choudhary emphasised the administration’s focus on equitable distribution, assuring that no eligible individual would face discrimination based on caste, religion, or other factors. He reiterated the government’s intent to ensure direct access to benefits for all sections of society.

Infrastructure Developments Announced

During the event, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the expansion and strengthening of National Highway-333, which extends from kilometre 28.340 (Gangta) to kilometre 38.340 (Kohbarwa Mor). This project aims to enhance safety and convenience, thereby improving connectivity between Munger, Jamui, and surrounding regions. Choudhary indicated that such infrastructure improvements will accelerate regional development.

In addition to the highway project, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for better water resource management. He called for provisions in the Farakka Water Agreement to ensure Bihar’s adequate water supply, addressing issues like silt accumulation in the Ganga River extending to Farakka Barrage.

Choudhary also shared plans for developing the Munger-Jamui forest area, with a project budgeted at around Rs 150 crore. The proposed enhancements in the Bhim Bandh area would include trekking routes and hotels, aiming to attract tourists nationally and internationally.

Health and Education Initiatives Introduced

The Chief Minister announced the commencement of a health check-up campaign across Bihar, running from September 1 to November 30. This initiative is expected to screen approximately 6.5 crore individuals, with treatment facilities to be arranged post-screening, thus emphasising the government’s commitment to public health.

Furthermore, Choudhary revealed the launch of the ‘Seva Sankalp Kayakalp Abhiyan’ starting on September 17, aimed at improving infrastructure in schools and ensuring the availability of toilets in schools and Anganwadi centres lacking such facilities. These initiatives reflect a broader strategy to enhance education and health services in the state.

The programme was attended by various dignitaries, including state ministers, public representatives, and senior government officials, highlighting the importance of community engagement in implementing these initiatives. With a focus on social welfare, infrastructure, and public health, the Bihar government aims to improve the quality of life for its citizens through systematic and inclusive measures.
