Bengaluru: Father-Son Duo, Wanted for 24 Murders, Arrested After a Year on the Run

The CSR Journal Magazine

A father-son duo wanted in connection with multiple serious crimes, including 24 alleged murders, has been apprehended in Bengaluru by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF). Identified as Manik and Manoj, the two had reportedly been absconding for over a year before being located and taken into custody in the Karnataka capital.

Over 40 Criminal Cases Registered Against Them

Authorities have registered approximately 40 criminal cases against the accused individuals. These include not only murder, but also charges of dacoity, robbery, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act. The accused hail from Patna in Bihar and are considered habitual offenders with an extensive criminal background.

Apart from Bihar, cases involving Manik and Manoj are also registered in neighbouring states such as Jharkhand and West Bengal. The range and seriousness of the charges have led to coordinated efforts by various state police teams to trace and apprehend them.

Operation Led by Bihar STF

The Bihar STF led the operation that ultimately resulted in the arrests. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team tracked the movements of the accused in Bengaluru and launched an operation to capture them. The task force had reportedly been monitoring their whereabouts for an extended period before confirming their presence in Karnataka.

Law enforcement officials have not disclosed further details regarding the exact location or circumstances of the arrest. However, both individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to be brought back to Bihar for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Pending Investigations and Legal Action

With the arrests made, police authorities are now preparing to pursue pending investigations into the cases linked to the duo across different states. Coordination between Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal police is being carried out to facilitate the necessary legal processes, including the transfer of custody and the collection of evidence.

The Bihar Government had earlier listed Manik and Manoj among some of its most wanted criminals, prompting statewide and inter-state efforts to track them down. Their apprehension marks a significant development in several long-standing cases.

Further legal steps, including court hearings and formal charges, are expected to follow in accordance with existing judicial procedures.
