‘Subedaar’ and Its Storyline

‘Subedaar’ centres on the life of Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier grappling with his transition back to civilian life after returning home. Set against the backdrop of Madhya Pradesh, the film showcases his confrontation with local corruption while highlighting the complexities of his relationship with his daughter Shyama, played by Radhikka Madan. This family dynamic deepens as Arjun faces escalating challenges that compel him to rely on his military training to safeguard his loved ones.

The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Khushbu Sundar, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Mona Singh, and Faisal Malik. Released on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, ‘Subedaar’ has quickly gained traction among audiences.

According to Variety, films featuring both Kapoor and international star Jackie Chan were among the 335 national winners announced at the awards. While ‘The Shadow’s Edge’ took home the Best Feature Film award for the Chinese Mainland, Kapoor’s ‘Subedaar’ won the equivalent recognition for India.

Overview of the Asian Academy Creative Awards

The Asian Academy Creative Awards saw winners from a total of 18 countries across various categories. The selected films will now advance to the international round, where grand winners will be declared during a gala event at Capitol Theatre in Singapore in December.

Mediacorp topped the accolades list with 23 wins, while both Prime Video India and Astro Malaysia achieved 19 victories each. CNN registered 15 wins. Among the noteworthy achievements was the Chinese drama series ‘The Lead’, which emerged as the top title with six categories, including Best Actress in a Leading Role. The Best Drama Series award was secured by ‘Legend of the Magnate’.

The awards’ structure involves a rigorous two-round system, beginning with a jury of senior industry professionals who first evaluate entries at the national level. The winners are then scored again in an international round to determine the overall champions. Awards chair Beverley McGarvey commented on the calibre of talent and storytelling throughout the Asia-Pacific region, praising the growing confidence and distinctive narratives present.
