The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking case of violence and humiliation has emerged from Barmer district in Rajasthan, where a young man identified as Devi Singh was allegedly assaulted by a group of local youths over a personal dispute linked to a leaked WhatsApp conversation. The incident took place on March 26 in Logon Ki Dhani village under the Sheo police station area.

Accusations Trigger Violent Attack

Devi Singh, who worked at a solar company, was reportedly confronted by a group of local youths who accused him of storing chats and photographs of girls from their families. What began as a confrontation quickly escalated into a brutal act of violence. According to police, the group physically assaulted Singh, blackened his face, and forcibly cut his hair in an apparent attempt to publicly humiliate him.

Disturbing Acts Captured on Video

The situation worsened as the accused allegedly forced Singh to drink urine and consume dog waste. A 43-second video of the incident later surfaced on social media, showing the victim sitting on the ground while being subjected to the degrading acts. In the video, Singh is seen resisting and vomiting, highlighting the severity of the abuse. The clip quickly went viral, drawing widespread outrage.

Police Action After Video Goes Viral

Despite the brutality, Singh did not initially approach the police or file a complaint. It was only after the video gained traction online that his family stepped forward and lodged an official complaint. Based on this, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Authorities have so far detained two accused, identified as Prakash Singh and Vijay Dan. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.

Investigation Underway

Preliminary investigations suggest that the dispute stemmed from a WhatsApp chat between Singh and a girl, which allegedly triggered the violent retaliation. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against all those involved as the investigation continues.
