Ayodhya Police Question Jeweller Uncle of Jailed Suspect in Ram Mandir Donation Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

Police have initiated further investigations into the alleged theft of donations for the Ram Mandir by questioning an uncle of the detained Anukalp Mishra alongside a jeweller from Inayatnagar market. This action was taken as part of the ongoing probe into the claimed embezzlement of funds intended for the temple.

Sources indicate that the uncle, Ramendra Mishra, was questioned to ascertain any involvement or knowledge of the case. Alongside him, a jeweller was also brought in for questioning, indicating the authorities’ extensive investigation strategy in addressing the alleged misappropriation of donations.

Custodial Interrogation of Accused Individuals

On the same day, police transported three accused individuals from Ayodhya District Jail for custodial interrogation after a local court granted one-day police custody. The accused, identified as Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey, were transferred to the Ayodhya Police Lines to facilitate further questioning related to the alleged donation embezzlement.

Earlier on Tuesday, the court approved the police’s request for custodial interrogation, affirming the necessity of questioning the three men outside of jail to uncover additional information pertinent to the investigation. The Investigating Officer (IO) communicated to the court that such interrogation was essential for determining further facts.

Initially, the police had sought seven days of custody for these individuals. However, the one-day custody granted is being viewed as a critical step, following an earlier round of questioning within the jail on Sunday involving five accused persons. Insights gained from that session prompted investigators to pursue the court’s consent for custody of the three men for in-depth examination.

Findings from the Special Investigation Team

The alleged embezzlement case has garnered substantial public interest, particularly following the submission of a preliminary report by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Uttar Pradesh government. This report suggested the presence of prima facie evidence concerning theft and pilferage during the donation counting process at the Ram Temple.

The investigation’s development points towards significant irregularities that could have potentially impacted the temple’s fundraising efforts. As the case unfolds, authorities continue to gather evidence to strengthen their findings regarding the alleged misappropriation of these donated funds.

In light of these developments, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has made notable administrative changes. During a recent high-level meeting, Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, the successor to Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, announced that Gopal Rao, also known as Gopal Nagarkatte, would no longer be invited to attend Trust meetings.

This decision underscores the Trust’s commitment to bolster its integrity and transparency in the wake of these serious allegations. The actions taken by both law enforcement and Trust officials demonstrate a rigorous approach to addressing concerns surrounding the management of the Ram Mandir donations.
