Arunachal Horror: Teen Dragged Out of Police Custody, Beaten to Death for Sexually Assaulting Minor Girls

A very shocking incident has come to light from Arunachal Pradesh. A 17-year-old boy was lynched by a angry mob. The boy was allegedly involved in multiple cases of sexual assault on minor girls in the area. The incident occurred in Roing town of Lower Dibang Valley district, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday afternoon.

According to reports the teenager was a migrant construction labourer from Assam. He was accused of entering the hostel of Mount Carmel School and sexually assaulting several girls aged between 5 and 8 years.

Sexual Abuse Allegations Surface

The incident came to light after several girls complained of abdominal pain and discomfort. Their parents took them to a hospital where doctors suspected possible sexual abuse. Following this, a formal complaint was lodged by one of the parents. This prompted police to arrest the accused late Thursday. The boy was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

However, the situation took a drastic turn as word spread across the town on Friday. Following this an angry mob gathered outside the police station demanding action. The situation quickly escalated as the crowd forced its way into the station. The mob overpowered the police personnel on duty, and dragged the accused outside. He was beaten severely in the first assault.

Second Attack at Hospital Proves Fatal

The Arunachal police managed to temporarily rescue the boy and took him to a local hospital for treatment. However, the mob followed him there. In a second brutal assault outside the hospital, the mob dragged the teen out once again and thrashed him.

Before the additional police forces and paramilitary personnel could arrive at the scene, the accused had already succumbed to his injuries.

School Shut Curfew Imposed

In the aftermath of the lynching, district authorities issued a notice declaring Mount Carmel School closed from July 12 onwards for an indefinite period. The order cited the “untoward incident of molestation” and asked parents to withdraw their children and admit them to recognized schools in their locality. A curfew was imposed in Roing town to control the tense situation.

“In the interest and safety of students, all the parents are directed to withdraw their respective wards from the school and get them enrolled in any nearby government schools/recognised private schools of their localities,” the order read.

Investigation underway

Meanwhile, police sources confirmed that four companies of security forces were deployed in the town to avoid further violence. Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung is reportedly in constant touch with district officials.
