Aprilia Launches SXR GT Scooter Range in India with New Features

The CSR Journal Magazine

Aprilia India has officially launched the SXR GT range in the country, featuring a blend of updated aesthetics and advanced functionality. The range consists of two engine options: a 125cc variant and a more performance-oriented 175cc version. This new line expands Aprilia’s urban-touring scooter portfolio, aiming to cater to diverse riding needs.

The scooters are designed to embody Aprilia’s iconic Italian styling while offering a more commanding presence on the road. With expanded features and equipment focused on touring capabilities, the SXR GT is positioned as a versatile choice for urban commuters and weekend travellers alike.

Engine Specifications and Performance

The SXR GT 175 model features a 175cc air-cooled engine, generating 13.27 bhp at 7,200 rpm and a torque of 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Conversely, the SXR GT 125 variant is powered by a 125cc engine that delivers 10.61 bhp at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 6,200 rpm. Aprilia states that both engines have been engineered to enhance acceleration and overall performance while ensuring ease of use for daily commuting.

Both variants comply with BS6 OBD II Stage B regulations and are compatible with E20 fuel. Notably, the SXR GT range boasts 14-inch wheels, a feature claimed to be unprecedented in its segment. These larger wheels are intended to enhance ride stability and comfort, particularly beneficial for longer journeys.

Aprilia’s efforts in developing these scooters have focused on improving not just power but also the overall user experience, combining practicality with performance for the everyday rider.

Design and Technological Enhancements

The design of the SXR GT maintains Aprilia’s signature maxi-scooter aesthetic, characterised by substantial proportions and an unmistakable front-end appearance. It incorporates a distinct tripod LED headlamp setup, updated graphics, and a selection of six new colour options across the two models. The SXR GT 125 is available in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro, and Glossy White, while the SXR GT 175 features Metallic Blue, Matte Black, and Matte Green.

A key highlight for the SXR GT 175 is its 5-inch TFT display, which offers Bluetooth connectivity. This display provides functionalities for music and call management, as well as navigation with turn-by-turn directions. On the other hand, the SXR GT 125 employs a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster, aligning with the practical focus of the range.

By integrating advanced technology into both models, Aprilia has positioned the SXR GT 175 as the more feature-rich variant, appealing to tech-savvy riders.

Safety Features and Touring Accessories

The SXR GT range prioritises safety, with the 175cc variant featuring a front disc brake accompanied by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The 125cc model is equipped with a 220 mm front disc brake and a 140 mm rear drum brake. Additionally, the 175cc model includes a newly designed muffler with integrated heat protection, aiming to enhance rider safety and comfort.

For riders who seek to add more touring capabilities to their scooters, Aprilia offers a selection of touring-oriented accessories, such as a manually adjustable windshield, crash guards, and a top box. These features are intended to enhance the practicality of the SXR GT range for longer trips.

Ultimately, the introduction of the new Aprilia SXR GT range positions the brand to attract riders who require a multifaceted scooter suitable for both urban navigation and extended rides.
