Advance Bookings for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend Exceed 1 Lakh Tickets, Generating Over Rs 8 Crore

The CSR Journal Magazine

Director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, has reportedly generated significant advance bookings, crossing the milestone of 1 lakh tickets sold. The film, based on the ancient text by Valmiki, features a prominent cast including Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey portraying Lakshman, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

As of October 23, 2026, at 11:42 am, the film has grossed Rs 8.27 crore, which includes revenue from blocked seats, while the earnings excluding these seats stand at Rs 6.25 crore. The advance ticket sales indicate a robust interest from audiences, suggesting that genuine demand is driving the bookings rather than exhibitor-blocked inventory.

The film’s advance sales have shown a notable increase, with total gross rising by 52 per cent. The collections, excluding blocked seats, surged by 73 per cent, indicating a shift in audience behaviour towards confirmed ticket purchases. This trend highlights that approximately 93 per cent of the Rs 2.83 crore added during this period came from unblocked ticket sales.

Ticket Sales and Market Trends

The total number of shows for Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has increased by 12 per cent, with overall ticket bookings, including blocked seats, rising by 58 per cent. This has resulted in an increase in average sales per show, moving from 26 to 37 tickets. Despite this positive momentum, it is noteworthy that no screenings have completely sold out yet, suggesting that there is still a considerable amount of ticket inventory available.

For context, other major film releases, such as Dhurandhar: The Revenge, achieved over 9.50 lakh advance ticket sales across more than 17,000 shows prior to their release. In comparison, Ramayana’s current show count is significantly lower, indicating potential for additional screenings as exhibitors adjust schedules following previous delays related to a revenue-sharing dispute between distributors and cinema owners.

By Thursday night, advance sales had surpassed the 50,000-ticket mark at major multiplex chains, including PVR INOX and Cinepolis. Premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX are reportedly attracting early interest, while bookings for standard multiplex screens are still in the initial stages of growth.

Future Projections and Release Plans

Industry benchmarks suggest that achieving 3.5 lakh opening-day ticket sales across the top three national chains would indicate a strong start ahead of Diwali, with a target of 5 lakh tickets representing a more ambitious goal. The primary surge in bookings is anticipated in the week leading up to the release, starting around October 29, when exhibitors will unlock full show schedules and broader screen allocations.

The projected nett opening target of Rs 70 crore being discussed in trade circles is considered ambitious. With November 5 falling on a pre-Diwali Thursday, the film may not fully benefit from a national holiday on its opening day. However, a Rs 60 crore opening would provide a solid foundation, particularly if momentum builds as the festive period approaches, commencing on November 9.

Additionally, paid previews scheduled for November 4 could offer an early boost ahead of the film’s nationwide theatrical release. The first part of this two-part adaptation will be available in cinemas in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, with the second part slated for release during Diwali 2027. Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is co-produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
