The CSR Journal Magazine

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, inaugurated the G-7 Border Outpost in Bhuj, Gujarat. This facility is strategically located along the Indo-Pak International Border. During his visit, Shah noted that significant technical hurdles had been surmounted in establishing a secure environment in the Harami Nala region, which is considered sensitive due to its geographical and strategic significance.

In attendance at the ceremony were Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, who showed their support for the development initiatives. Alongside the inauguration, Shah interacted with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and planted a neem sapling as a symbolic gesture of growth and commitment to security.

Details on Cost and Construction

Shah disclosed that the construction of the G-7 centre incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs 175 crore, part of broader efforts aimed at enhancing border infrastructure. He identified the new facility as a critical component in the government’s strategy to fortify border security. The outpost is not isolated; it complements the previously established G-13 project, both indicative of a concerted effort to strengthen the area.

During his remarks, the Home Minister emphasized the vulnerabilities observed in the Harami Nala area when he first assumed office. Since then, significant progress has been made in constructing a robust security network amid numerous technical challenges. He reiterated the importance of continuous oversight during the project, highlighting his personal involvement by monitoring daily progress over a three-month period.

To ensure improved conditions, Shah reported that the terrain surrounding the Border Outpost had been elevated by approximately 3.75 metres, showcasing the extensive planning and execution involved in this undertaking. This elevation aims to enhance security operations while addressing the geographical difficulties of the area.

Ongoing Development Initiatives

Amit Shah is currently on a two-day visit to Gujarat, focusing on multiple development and security projects. His activities included the inauguration of the ‘Bharat Mata Sculpture’, a significant installation by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation located near New Vadaj Circle. The sculpture stands around 18 feet tall and drew a positive response from the public who attended the unveiling.

Earlier, during his visit, Shah inaugurated and laid the foundations for various development initiatives worth Rs 340 crore in the Kalol and Gandhinagar (North) Assembly constituencies. He also opened a primary school, reinforcing his commitment to educational development in the region. Shah stated that over the past ten days, he has inaugurated and laid foundations for projects totalling Rs 1,200 crore across two districts, indicating a focus on rapid infrastructural growth.

Looking ahead, Shah expressed hope that various development projects, including the enhancement of gardens and ponds, would be completed across every village in the concerned Assembly constituencies by the time of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. He praised the developmental efforts initiated by Prime Minister Modi, which he believes have positioned Gujarat as a model for progress extending to various regions across the country.
