Akshaye Khanna Buys Rs 33 Crore Apartment in Malabar Hill After Film Success

The CSR Journal Magazine

Akshaye Khanna, known for his previously low-profile lifestyle away from the bustling city, has recently acquired an apartment in the upscale Malabar Hill neighbourhood of Mumbai for Rs 33.26 crore. This acquisition reportedly follows the significant success of his latest film, Dhurandhar, which added to his popularity and prompted this high-value investment.

Prior to this property deal, Khanna had been residing in a private home located in Alibaug. According to property registration records reviewed by Square Yards, the purchase transaction was officially recorded in September 2026, indicating a timely decision following his return to mainstream cinema.

The apartment is part of a residential complex at 30 Little Gibbs, Malabar Hill Road, with a carpet area of 2,341.39 square feet—equivalent to 217.52 square metres. Moreover, it includes a balcony area of 175.45 square feet, thus bringing the total area to 2,516.84 square feet, or 233.82 square metres. Additionally, the property includes three designated parking units.

Malabar Hill: A Prestigious Residential Locale

Malabar Hill is widely regarded as one of Mumbai’s most sought-after residential areas. Known for its luxurious homes and comprehensive infrastructure, the neighbourhood boasts proximity to vital commercial and cultural landmarks, which significantly enhances its desirability.

Connectivity within the region is facilitated through major avenues such as Nepean Sea Road, Walkeshwar Road, and Pedder Road, making it convenient for residents to access other parts of South Mumbai. Notable landmarks such as Hanging Gardens, Kamala Nehru Park, Banganga Tank, and Walkeshwar Temple enrich the cultural landscape of the area.

The neighbourhood’s allure is further augmented by its limited availability of large luxury residences coupled with spectacular sea views. Social infrastructure and accessible business districts contribute to making Malabar Hill one of Mumbai’s most exclusive residential enclaves.

Akshaye Khanna’s Career and Recent Popularity

Akshaye Khanna’s career spans several decades, marking him as a versatile actor in Indian cinema. The son of the late actor Vinod Khanna, he first made an impact in the 1990s and has become recognised for his ability to take on diverse roles across genres, including romantic dramas and thrillers.

His recent role as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar has emerged as a pivotal point in his career, sparking online discussion and revitalising interest in his work. Despite being part of an ensemble cast featuring Ranveer Singh, Khanna’s portrayal garnered significant attention, attributed to both his performance and the character’s popular dialogue, making Rehman a breakout figure.

Additionally, the film’s success has seemingly introduced his work to a younger generation of viewers, further solidifying his place in the industry. With this new home purchase in Malabar Hill, Khanna has strategically expanded his portfolio during a vibrant phase in his acting career.
