Congress head quarter of Bengal which known as Bidhan Bhawan was attacked by allegedly BJP supporters led by Rakesh Singh. According to Congress leader, BJP supporters entered into the state office and ransacked the office and leaders portrait. Also they put black ink on the face of Rahul Gandhi’s posters.
Congress president wrote open letter to BJP president
Congress president Shuvankar Sarkar wrote an open letter to BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya where he sought reaction of Bhattacharya saying, “I believe you are a gentleman and cultured man. I believe without your consent, such incident can’t be happened which led by anti-social element of your party Rakesh Singh.”
He further added, “Even after this incident, BJP will not take step against Rakesh Singh or police will not take steps, we don’t know how far sentiment of congress worker will go.”
According to eye witness, around fifty BJP supporters on Friday morning gathered in front of Bidhan Bhawan. They were protesting against the recent statement of Rahul Gandhi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Suddenly they entered into the office premises and started ransack chair, poster, placards. When we tried to stopped, they also beat us also.”
Police arrested six BJP supporters
After getting news of the incident, police rushed to the spot and stopped BJP supporters. Police later informed, six BJP supporters detained from the spot and police started investigation as per allegation of state Congress.
Former Congress president and MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also condemned the incident and said, “It is pre-planned incident. Rakesh Singh is an anti-social element. After politically defeat, BJP did this with the help of Rakesh Singh.”
Rakesh Singh was Congress leader of Kolkata port areas. After 2021 assembly election he joined BJP. This is not the first time, complaint raised against him. Earlier also an actress Pamela Goswami alleged that she was framed in narcotic case by Rakesh Singh. After this allegation, Singh was arrested by police also.
