A Hollywood agency is currently working on establishing the remake, aiming to incorporate an established actor into the film.

The development came to light through producer Sudhan Sundaram, who shared the news with The Times of India. He mentioned that the strong performance of ‘Maharaja’ in the Chinese market had drawn the attention of the Hollywood agency. This notable success has now opened doors for the film in international cinema.

While specific details regarding the lead actor are yet to be disclosed, there has been considerable buzz on social media about Matthew McConaughey possibly being involved. Nonetheless, these speculations remain unconfirmed at this stage. Sudhan emphasised that the agency will provide clarity regarding the cast and production details as the project progresses.

Success of ‘Maharaja’ in China

The remarkable journey of ‘Maharaja’ was bolstered by its strong performance in China, where it reportedly earned Rs 91.65 crore at the box office, according to Sacnilk. The film also garnered substantial viewership on OTT platforms. Sudhan explained that the Hollywood agency approached them for the remake rights in light of this success, indicating the film’s popularity had resonated with audiences further afield.
