The CSR Journal Magazine

Veer Soren, a 19-year-old and grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, tragically died during a trip to Manali, located in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. According to local police, authorities were notified by the Civil Hospital in Manali on February 25 that a young man, identified as Veer Soren, had been brought in dead. A police team promptly arrived at the hospital to undertake necessary procedures for identification and to take custody of the body.

Initial investigations revealed no visible signs of external injuries on the deceased. Reports indicate that Veer Soren was traveling with friends and had been staying at a homestay in the Simsa region. The group had engaged in a sightseeing itinerary that included visits to Solang Valley, Sethan, and Hamta Pass on February 23.

Health Complications Before His Death

After returning to their homestay, Veer began to experience a severe headache, prompting his friends to seek medical assistance for him. Following this, he went to sleep. At around 2 PM, his friends noticed unusual noise coming from his room and found him lying on the floor, having apparently fallen from his bed. According to reports, foamy discharge was observed from his mouth while he was being transported to the hospital.

Medical professionals at the Civil Hospital in Manali attempted to revive him through CPR, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. While the exact cause of death remains undetermined, law enforcement mentions the possibility of high-altitude sickness, known as hypoxemia, as a contributing factor.

Statements from Local Authorities

Kullu’s Superintendent of Police, Madan Lal Kaushal, confirmed the police were informed about the incident. He noted that the deceased was part of a group visiting from a university in Panipat and had become suddenly ill. The police later reported that Veer’s relatives had arrived in Manali in response to the incident.

The authorities concluded that all necessary procedures were performed, and the body was subsequently handed over to the family. Following their investigation, police stated that there were no signs of foul play surrounding the young man’s passing.
