The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has announced a tender valued at approximately ₹96 crore for the installation of 6,000 solar lighting systems throughout various districts in the state. This initiative is designed to enhance public lighting infrastructure while fostering the use of renewable and clean energy solutions.

As part of the tender, UPNEDA intends to implement 5,000 solar street lights, which will be integrated with remote monitoring capabilities, and 1,000 high-mast solar lighting units. The project is set to be executed on a turnkey basis, encompassing supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and five years of operation and maintenance.

The solar high-mast lighting systems will feature photovoltaic (PV) modules, lithium ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries for energy storage, and energy-efficient LED luminaires that allow for real-time system monitoring. This approach aims to ensure both dependable performance and effective management of energy resources.

Objectives of the Initiative

The tender aligns with the broader goals of Uttar Pradesh to expand renewable energy-based public infrastructure across both urban and rural settings. By implementing these solar lighting systems, the government seeks to improve safety and visibility in public spaces while reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

Officials indicated that the deployment of solar street lights and high-mast units is expected to significantly contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in the region. UPNEDA has stipulated that participating companies must fulfil specific technical and financial eligibility requirements. Timeline and Bidding Process

Bids for the project are currently open and will remain so until July 3, 2026. Companies intending to submit proposals will need to prepare for a technical evaluation that is scheduled to commence the following day. This evaluation process aims to assess the expertise and capabilities of the bidders in delivering the solar lighting systems.
