Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a promising talent in Indian cricket, has revealed his aspiration to secure the trophy for the Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The 14-year-old cricketer articulated his commitment to contributing significantly to the team’s success during his attendance at the BCCI Naman Awards held in New Delhi. The event honored the India Under-19 men’s cricket team for their remarkable victory in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026.

Commitment to Team Success

Addressing the audience at the awards ceremony, Sooryavanshi emphasized his determination to win the IPL trophy, stating that such a victory would not only benefit the franchise but also enhance his personal performance. He articulated his goal succinctly, saying, “The goal is to win the trophy for the team this season. If we win the trophy, it will benefit the entire franchise as well as my own performance. My aim is to contribute as much as I can to help the team lift the trophy.”

Outstanding Performance in ICC U-19 World Cup

Sooryavanshi earned recognition as the Player of the Match in the ICC U-19 World Cup finals against England, where he played a pivotal role by scoring an impressive 175 runs off just 80 balls. His performance included 15 boundaries and six sixes, with a remarkable century reached in only 55 balls, marking one of the fastest centuries in the history of the U-19 World Cup. This achievement contributed to India’s sixth championship title.

Record-Breaking IPL Journey

During the IPL mega auction prior to the 2025 season, Sooryavanshi made headlines by securing a contract worth Rs 1.1 crore with the Rajasthan Royals, establishing him as the youngest player in IPL history. Additionally, he made his debut at the age of 14 years and 23 days, setting a record as the youngest player to ever feature in the league. In the 2025 season, he also became the youngest player to score a century in the IPL, achieving the feat in just 35 balls against the Gujarat Giants, surpassing the previous record held by Yusuf Pathan.
