Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has underscored the importance of supporting journalists’ health by launching a one-day medical camp in Haldwani. This initiative aligns with the Chief Minister’s recognition of the demanding lifestyle and irregular work hours that often characterize the media profession. The medical camp took place at the Haldwani Media Centre on Thursday and was organized by the Information and Public Relations Department in partnership with the Health and Medical Department.

District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal, Chief Medical Officer of Nainital, and Joint Director of Information Nitin Upadhyay were present at the event to oversee the services offered. During his remarks, District Magistrate Rayal emphasized that the well-being of journalists is crucial for a robust democracy. He noted that a free and responsible media is essential for holding the administration accountable and enhancing public awareness.

Further, he mentioned that the Uttarakhand government prioritizes the health and welfare of media professionals, reflecting its commitment to ensuring the well-being of journalists. In accordance with Chief Minister Dhami’s public welfare vision, the camp featured modern healthcare amenities, including X-rays, ECGs, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, thyroid assessments, and various other blood tests. A range of specialists, including cardiologists, orthopedic experts, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, dentists, and general physicians, were available for thorough health evaluations of the participants.

The camp attracted media representatives from print, electronic, and social media, along with their family members, coming from Haldwani, Ramnagar, Lalkuan, and Kaladhungi. More than 100 journalists and their families benefited from the services provided at this initiative. Joint Director Information Nitin Upadhyay commented that similar health camps will be organized in various regions as per government directives, ensuring that more media personnel and everyday citizens can access quality healthcare services.

This medical camp serves as a clear illustration of the state government’s proactive approach to health initiatives, aimed at reaching every segment of the community under the guiding principle of “Health for All, Development for All.” The camp was collaboratively inaugurated by District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Harish Chandra Pant and Joint Director Information Nitin Upadhyay, marking a significant step forward in addressing the health needs of journalists in the region.
