Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan is scheduled to travel to Bihar on Wednesday, September 16, to assess the flood situation and the corresponding damage across the state. His visit is intended to provide a firsthand evaluation of the impacts of the floods and to oversee the response efforts.

Itinerary and Meetings Planned

Upon arriving in Patna from Bhopal, Chouhan will commence an aerial survey of the flood-affected locations of Dighwara and Maner at 10:30 AM. This survey will be conducted by helicopter, departing from Patna State Hangar. Following the aerial assessment, he is expected to arrive at Hajipur Police Line at 11:00 AM, from where he will travel by road to the villages of Tersia and Saraipur.

In these villages, Chouhan will inspect the damages incurred to crops as a result of the flooding. During his visits, he plans to interact with local farmers to receive direct feedback on the situation. After this inspection, he will head to ‘Samvad’, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, at 12:15 PM for a significant review meeting.

This meeting will be attended by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and senior officials to discuss flood disaster management, ongoing relief efforts, and the assistance to be provided to affected farmers. The gathering aims to ensure coordinated actions are taken to alleviate the challenges faced by those impacted by the floods.

Subsequent Activities in Bihar

After concluding the meeting in Patna, Union Minister Chouhan will depart at 1:30 PM for Nawabgarhi in Munger, expected at around 2:15 PM. His visit to Nawabgarhi will involve checking on the local relief camp and meeting with flood victims, to evaluate the quality of the assistance being offered.

Following his time in Nawabgarhi, he will drive through Bhagalpur to inspect the Kosi-Karaiya embankment in Navgachia. This inspection is crucial as it relates to the infrastructure’s integrity in preventing further flooding. Chouhan’s itinerary reflects a thorough approach in reviewing various aspects of the ongoing relief operations.

In the evening on September 16, he will also visit a relief camp situated at Bhagalpur Polytechnic College to meet families who have sought shelter there, in order to enquire about their conditions and ensure their needs are being met during this challenging time.

On the morning of September 17, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to meet more flood-affected residents before concluding his visit and returning to Patna. His engagements over these two days highlight the government’s commitment to addressing immediate humanitarian concerns in response to the flooding.
