A late-night rendezvous between a 20-year-old man and his girlfriend resulted in an unexpected wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district. The event unfolded on the night of September 13, 2023, when Akash Divakar, a resident of Jati village, visited his girlfriend, 19-year-old Saloni Divakar, in Shergarh village. The couple has reportedly been in a relationship for approximately three years, often meeting in secret due to familial pressures.

The meeting took a surprising turn when Saloni’s family allegedly discovered the couple together. Family members reportedly confronted Akash, leading to an altercation in which he was assaulted. The girl’s family later notified the police regarding the incident, prompting a police intervention.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials took Akash to the local police station. However, instead of pursuing a legal case, discussions among both families quickly veered toward arranging a marriage for the couple, culminating in a joint decision.

Marriage Agreement Between Families

After deliberations, both families expressed their approval for Akash and Saloni to marry. The couple, accompanied by their families, proceeded to a temple near Tilhapur Mod, where the wedding ceremony took place shortly thereafter. Visuals from the event depict the couple actively participating in the various rituals associated with the marriage, signifying the resolution of their earlier predicament.

Police Comment on Resolution

Chandra Bhushan Maurya, the in-charge of Pipri police station, indicated that neither family wished to press charges or seek legal repercussions stemming from the incident. He confirmed that both families were agreeable to the marriage, having reached a consensus that would avoid complicating matters further with police action. “Both families agreed to the marriage and did not want any action,” Maurya stated.

The police view this as a successful resolution of a potentially contentious situation, with the families’ agreement averting what could have been a drawn-out legal affair. While the circumstances of how they met initially might have raised concerns, the outcome highlights a commitment to maintain familial harmony while embracing modernity.
