UPESSC Dismisses Quota Claims in Recruitment of Over 17,000 Teachers

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has rejected claims circulating on social media regarding the reservation policy for the recruitment of assistant teachers for more than 17,000 positions in aided secondary schools. According to a report by the Press Trust of India, Commission chairman Prashant Kumar stated that the recruitment process has been conducted transparently and adheres to government regulations and established procedures.

Kumar emphasised that the allegations surrounding the reservation policy are unfounded and misleading. He noted that misinformation is being propagated by certain groups and individuals on various platforms, which could confuse potential candidates. The Commission aims to clarify these misconceptions to ensure that the recruitment process remains fair and transparent.

In light of the misinformation, Kumar urged candidates seeking teaching positions and the general public to refrain from believing or disseminating unverified information. He encouraged them to rely solely on the Commission’s official website for authentic updates regarding the recruitment process.

Details of the Recruitment Process

Kumar explained that the Madhyamik Shiksha Nideshalaya is responsible for compiling a detailed list of vacancies in aided schools throughout the state. This list categorises vacancies by school, subject, and reservation category before being submitted to the Commission for recruitment. Each aided secondary school operates as an independent unit, with its management serving as the appointing authority.

The allocation of teaching posts is determined separately for each school, taking into account the number of sanctioned posts and the relevant reservation rules. Kumar clarified that the reservation policy does not apply to the overall number of vacancies at the state or Directorate level. This ensures that each school’s specific circumstances are considered during the recruitment process.

This method of calculating reservations aims to maintain a fair and equitable recruitment process across various aided secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh. The Commission has reiterated that it follows a structured approach to ensure compliance with established guidelines.

Historical Context of Recruitment Policies

The UPESSC highlighted that previous recruitment exercises have adhered to the same rules and legal framework, including those conducted under Advertisement Nos. 01/2022 and 02/2022. This consistency in policy implementation underscores the Commission’s commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in the recruitment of teachers.

Kumar also mentioned that the state government has addressed the issue through its official social media platform, “E-Gyan Ganga-UP”, to provide clarity on the recruitment process. The Commission continues to stress the importance of using its official website as the primary source for verified information regarding recruitment.

In conclusion, the UPESSC remains dedicated to ensuring that the recruitment process is conducted in accordance with established norms, and it urges all candidates to remain vigilant against misinformation. By relying on official communications, candidates can stay informed and avoid confusion regarding the recruitment of over 17,000 assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh.
