A tragic incident unfolded in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, where a 13-year-old Class 8 student reportedly died following alleged mistreatment by her teacher. The events leading to her death began on August 20, when the student, after a confrontation with a fellow classmate regarding cheating during an examination, approached assistant teacher Rajendra Kumar Gangwar to lodge a complaint.

Allegations state that instead of addressing her concerns, Gangwar allegedly twisted the girl’s arm, causing significant injury. The victim, who had returned home in visible pain with swelling in her arm, was subsequently taken to a local physician. There, doctors diagnosed internal tissue damage and blood clotting. According to the victim’s father, Umesh Dixit, the injury was severe enough to require extensive medical attention, which the family felt was beyond their financial means.

Medical Treatment and Circumstances of Death

After initial treatment, on August 26, the family relocated the girl to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad when her condition deteriorated. Despite efforts to secure a loan for her treatment, she tragically succumbed to her injuries on August 30. Umesh Dixit expressed his frustration regarding the lack of communication from the school about his daughter’s condition after the incident, despite the teacher’s earlier assurances about her care.

Following her death, the forensic team took her body for a post-mortem examination in Farrukhabad. The results of this examination are awaited, as they are expected to provide crucial information about the cause of death and potentially confirm whether the injuries inflicted by the teacher contributed to her passing.

In the wake of the incident, Umesh Dixit lodged a formal complaint with the police, demanding thorough investigation and accountability. He has also requested examination of his daughter’s medical records and testimonies from classmates and teachers present at the school on the day of the alleged assault.

School Response and Investigations Initiated

Upon learning of the tragic incident, the Basic Education Department initiated an inquiry into the matter. Block Education Officer Dr Sunil Singh visited the school to conduct a thorough investigation. As a result of the findings thus far, the school has suspended both the in-charge teacher, Akshat, and assistant teacher Gangwar pending the outcome of the inquiry.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that they are conducting a detailed investigation into the family’s complaint. Any subsequent legal action will depend on the findings and evidence gathered during this inquiry process. The post-mortem report will be a pivotal document in ascertaining the medical circumstances surrounding the student’s death, as well as determining responsibility for the events that led up to the incident and its tragic conclusion.
