The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety Administration has seized approximately 300 kg of paneer deemed unfit for consumption as preparations for the Raksha Bandhan festival commence. This operation took place in Garhi Chaukhandi, Noida, with officials reporting the seizure on August 24. The paneer in question was allegedly sourced from Mewat, Haryana, according to the authorities involved in the inspection.

A team of Food Safety Officers, including Vishal Gupta and Ritu Saxena, conducted a thorough inspection of the dairy facility where the unfit paneer was discovered. During their visit, they collected a sample for testing purposes, but the bulk of the product was destroyed on-site due to health concerns.

This initiative is part of a broader campaign mandated by the Commissioner for Food Safety and Drug Administration in Uttar Pradesh, based in Lucknow. The District Magistrate has also played a role in overseeing this drive to ensure that only safe and high-quality dairy products are available to the public during the festive period.

Continued Efforts for Safe Food Supply

Assistant Commissioner Sarvesh Mishra highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain food safety standards in the region, emphasising the importance of providing pure food items for the community. The inspections and sample collections are designed to reassure residents about the safety of dairy products and other consumables during the festival season.

On the night of August 22, Officer Vishal Gupta intercepted a vehicle transporting paneer from Kilokhari, Bulandshahr, to Delhi. This proactive measure involved collecting another sample for analysis to confirm its safety. These actions reflect the administration’s commitment to strict monitoring of food items, especially as consumer demand rises with the upcoming holiday.

The following day, on August 23, a similar operation was carried out by Officer Amar Bahadur Saroj, who collected paneer from a dairy located in Sector 88 of Noida Mandi. Additionally, the Food Safety team comprising officers Mukesh Kumar, Vijay Bahadur Patel, and Ravindra Nath Verma collected samples from another dairy in Tughalpur, Greater Noida.

Ongoing Monitoring and Testing of Food Products

The efforts to ensure food safety have not only been limited to paneer but have expanded to include various other dairy products. Recently, a sample of paneer was acquired from a dairy in Knowledge Park-2, which was linked to a local shop. In a related initiative, Food Safety Officer O.P. Singh gathered samples of boondi laddoo and khoya from a sweets shop near Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.

At this stage, a total of eight samples of milk products and sweets have been collected for laboratory analysis across different locations in the region. This comprehensive approach aims to test these items to confirm they adhere to the necessary safety regulations.

In conclusion, Assistant Commissioner Sarvesh Mishra affirmed that the inspections and sample collection efforts will persist throughout the district. This ongoing campaign aims to uphold food standards and ensure public health safety, particularly in anticipation of the Raksha Bandhan festivities.
