The Uttar Pradesh government has reached a significant milestone in rural water supply in the state. The initiative comes under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
According to recent data, a total of 24,576 villages in the state now have 100% household access to clean tap water. The government has made sure that thorough 79,44,896 new connections, nearly 4.86 crore villagers are benefiting from this initiative.
Mirzapur leading
Mirzapur district leads the way, with 1,769 villages achieving full tap water coverage. The Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department continues to drive this success, ensuring safe drinking water reaches every household across the state.
Long-standing water crisis resolved
Under the leadership of the Yogi Adityanath the Uttar Pradesh government, has resolved the long-standing water crisis in Bundelkhand and the Vindhya region. The solution to the water crisis has brought a transformative change to these areas.
Uttar Pradesh has now achieved another milestone by ensuring pure drinking water supply through taps to every household in 24,576 villages for the first time. Efforts are also underway to extend this facility to the remaining villages at an accelerated pace.
Rural Water Supply
Additionally, the Rural Water Supply and Namami Gange Department is generating employment in these villages. In every village, five women are engaged in FHTC connections, while 13 individuals are being trained and employed as plumbers, fitters, and electricians.
As a result, 18 people per village are gaining livelihood opportunities, benefiting thousands across 24,576 villages.
