Union Home Minister Amit Shah Optimistic About BJP’s Prospects in Assam Elections

Guwahati, Assam – On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed his optimism regarding the upcoming legislative assembly elections in Assam, indicating that the citizens of the northeastern state are keen to re-establish a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Shah asserted that the BJP is poised to secure an overwhelming majority, projecting the party will win more than 90 seats in the 126-member assembly. He stated, “We are going to form the government in Assam once again with a thumping majority for the third time. The people of Assam are eager to form the BJP and the NDA government.” Shah conveyed his confidence while addressing journalists following a significant roadshow held in Guwahati.

The elections for all 126 assembly constituencies in Assam are scheduled to occur on April 9. According to official announcements, the vote counting will take place on May 4. The political landscape is primarily characterized by a contest between the incumbent BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and the Congress party. The BJP, currently led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, aims to secure a third consecutive term, while Congress seeks to reclaim power in the state. Chief Minister Sarma will be contesting from his traditional constituency in Jalukbari.
