MP Government Launches Campaign to Develop, Connect 100 Naxal-Affected Villages in Balaghat

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated a campaign aimed at the development and connection of 100 villages in the Balaghat district that have been affected by Naxal activities. This initiative is focused on enhancing infrastructure and promoting employment-oriented activities within these communities. Officials announced the campaign on Thursday, detailing the action plans that are currently being formulated to address the specific needs of the villagers.

The selected villages have been categorised into four clusters, with personnel from various government departments assigned to visit each cluster over a span of 14 days. Their primary tasks include assessing existing facilities, understanding the local challenges faced by residents, and preparing proposals for necessary development works. This comprehensive approach aims to gather detailed information regarding the basic needs of the villagers and the potential for development in these areas.

The campaign’s overarching goal is to improve basic amenities for the residents, while also expanding opportunities in education, health, nutrition, and livelihood. By focusing on these areas, the government aims to uplift the standard of living in the affected villages and integrate them into the broader developmental framework of the state.

Field Visits and Assessments

On October 26, a team led by Lanji Sub-Divisional Magistrate Aditya Narayan Tiwari conducted visits to several villages, including Kattipar, Satona, Bargud, and Devarbeli. Meanwhile, officials under Baihar SDM Aniket Shandilya inspected the villages of Dadeksa, Bilalkasa, Songudda, Lud, Hirri, Bharri, Sonpuri, and Bithri. These visits are part of the government’s strategy to engage directly with villagers and gather insights into their specific needs and challenges.

Additionally, Manoj Dhurve, the Executive Engineer of Rural Engineering Services, visited Sitapar and Borwan in the Kiranpur area, where he interacted with local residents. Assistant Commissioner of Tribal Affairs Shakuntala Damor also conducted an inspection of hostels in the Ukwa-Bithli area, further emphasising the government’s commitment to understanding the local context and requirements.

On October 28, Collector Aditya Singh continued the assessment by visiting Bargud-Satona, Keradih, Sayer, and Sanduka within the Gram Panchayat Devarbeli of the Lanji development block. During these visits, officials evaluated the status of essential services such as roads, bridges, drinking water, irrigation, school buildings, anganwadi centres, and electricity supply.

Future Plans and Expected Outcomes

Based on the assessments conducted, proposals for necessary improvements and infrastructure development will be formulated. The focus will be on exploring the potential of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, and other self-employment activities. This strategic approach aims to enhance livelihood opportunities for the villagers, particularly the youth, thereby strengthening their economic status.

Balaghat District Magistrate Aditya Singh has instructed officials to complete their visits to the designated villages within the allocated 14-day timeframe and to compile a detailed report on their findings. This report will serve as a foundation for the development plans that will be implemented in the future.

The campaign is designed to ensure that the villagers benefit from various government schemes and initiatives. By providing education, employment, and self-employment opportunities, particularly for youth and tribal communities, the government aims to integrate these villages into the mainstream of development, thereby fostering a more inclusive society.
