Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recently engaged with several Union Ministers in New Delhi to discuss the acceleration of various infrastructure initiatives, including the Musi rejuvenation project, new railway lines, and airport development efforts. The meetings, held on Thursday, included discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu. The Chief Minister’s agenda focused on garnering the Union government’s support in areas such as land allocation, central approvals, and land transfers critical to these projects.
Invitation to Rajnath Singh for Gandhi Sarovar Ceremony
During his meeting with Defence Minister Singh, CM Revanth Reddy extended an invitation to attend the foundation stone-laying event for the Gandhi Sarovar Project. This initiative aims to develop the Bapu Ghat area at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers into a premier educational, cultural, spiritual, and environmental center. The site holds historical significance as it is where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in 1948.
Focus on Sustainable Urban Development
The Chief Minister detailed the Musi Rejuvenation Project, designed to revitalize the Musi River with an emphasis on environmentally friendly practices and sustainable urban development. He articulated that the Gandhi Sarovar Project would embody the principles of peace, unity, and simple living that Gandhi advocated. Plans for the project include establishing a national museum, a knowledge center, and a hub for promoting handloom products.
Meeting with Railway Minister for New Railway Line Approval
In a separate discussion with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, CM Revanth Reddy advocated for the Krishna-Vikarabad railway line to be funded entirely by the central government. He reminded the Minister that the state is prepared to cover land acquisition costs for the project. The Chief Minister also highlighted potential limestone deposits identified in Tekalkode, emphasizing a vision for the area to develop into a hub for cement and textile industries.
Plans for High-Speed Rail Corridors
CM Reddy informed the Railway Minister that 500 acres of land would be designated near Shamshabad Airport for three proposed high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune. He suggested these high-speed routes originate at Shamshabad to optimize transportation logistics, particularly for goods moving to Bandar Port.
Civil Aviation Minister Addressed for Mamnoor Airport Development
During discussions with Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal to meet international standards. He asserted that land acquisition for the airport is complete and urged immediate commencement of development works. The discussions also covered plans to enhance cargo services and maintenance facilities at the proposed airport, which is envisioned to serve as a regional hub for surrounding districts.
Commitment to Develop Warangal as an Industrial Hub
CM Revanth Reddy further discussed broad development plans for Warangal, aiming to position it as a significant industrial center for textiles and other sectors. He also mentioned the local significance of the Sammakka-Saralamma tribal fair, which occurs every two years. The urgency of launching operations at Mamnoor Airport was reiterated in the meeting, alongside a request for immediate permissions for the establishment of the Adilabad Airport.
