Norton Announces New 450cc Urban Motorcycle, Launch in 2027

The CSR Journal Magazine

Norton Motorcycles has revealed plans for a new 450cc urban motorcycle, marking the British manufacturer’s entry into a new segment. This announcement signifies a significant step in Norton’s resurgence under the ownership of TVS Motor Company. The motorcycle is set to be available for purchase in 2027, with additional specifications and features expected to be disclosed at the upcoming EICMA event.

The new model is powered by a liquid-cooled, 454cc, single-cylinder engine, which is reported to generate a torque of 45Nm. The motorcycle features an aluminium frame, designed to enhance agility and provide a riding experience that inspires confidence. Additionally, it includes an 8-inch TFT touchscreen that boasts advanced connectivity features, reflecting modern technological trends.

While specific power output and other mechanical details have not yet been shared by the company, Norton has indicated that this model will blend its traditional design ethos with contemporary engineering innovations. The styling of the motorcycle follows the latest design direction from Norton, characterised by a muscular stance, clean lines, and meticulous attention to detail.

Expansion of Norton’s Motorcycle Portfolio

The introduction of the 450cc motorcycle is part of a broader strategy aimed at expanding Norton’s product offerings following its revival under TVS Motor Company. Earlier, the brand unveiled four new-generation motorcycles during EICMA 2025. These models include the Manx, Manx R, Atlas, and Atlas GT. Deliveries for the Manx R and Atlas have already commenced in European markets, while the Manx and Atlas GT are expected to follow suit shortly.

Norton’s latest design philosophy has garnered international acclaim, with the Manx R receiving the Red Dot: Best of the Best award at the 2026 Red Dot Award: Design Concept. This recognition follows the model’s success at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), further solidifying Norton’s reputation in the motorcycle industry.

In addition to expanding its motorcycle range, Norton is collaborating with the architectural firm Foster + Partners to create a new global retail concept. This initiative aims to ensure a consistent brand experience across all of its dealerships worldwide, enhancing customer engagement and satisfaction.

Norton’s Global Expansion Plans

The revival of Norton Motorcycles is significantly supported by the investment and engineering capabilities of TVS Motor Company. The company is actively developing its facility in Solihull, UK, which will serve as a centre for motorcycle design and engineering. Furthermore, Norton is leveraging TVS Motor’s global engineering centre in Italy and its research and development headquarters located in India.

Currently, Norton operates a retail network comprising over 50 locations across ten markets, which include the UK, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain. The company is also preparing to enter the Indian and US markets, indicating a strategic move towards global expansion.

The anticipated 450cc motorcycle is expected to play a crucial role in making the Norton brand more accessible to a broader audience. With sales set to commence in 2027, further details, including the official model name and additional specifications, are expected to be announced prior to its launch, generating anticipation among motorcycle enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
