Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has responded to the controversy that emerged from his interaction with co-star Sara Arjun at the Dhurandhar trailer launch. A video clip featuring the moment stirred criticism on social media, prompting Bedi to clarify the nature of his gesture. He emphasized that his actions stemmed from genuine affection and were taken out of context.

During a discussion on a podcast hosted by Red FM, Bedi detailed his relationship with Sara, indicating that it has always been warm and familial. He expressed that their dynamic on set mirrored that of a father and daughter, particularly given that Sara plays his daughter in the film. He noted, “Every time she came to the shoot, I would greet her with a hug and kiss her on the forehead, reassuring her, ‘Come on, don’t worry, we’ll do a great scene together.’”

Reflecting on the reaction to his behavior at the trailer launch, Bedi remarked that his traditional greeting was misconstrued. He stated, “When I greeted her in the same way at the event, people began to write all sorts of things. I thought to myself, ‘I’ve always treated her like this.’” He further mentioned the rapid escalation of the incident into a topic of public debate, with mixed reactions from the audience. While some individuals defended his actions, others raised objections.

In a previous interview, Bedi reiterated that his rapport with Sara is deeply affectionate, recounting how she would greet him throughout the shoot like a daughter would her father. He explained that their relationship naturally translates into their on-screen chemistry and that he found the backlash perplexing. “The interaction during the event was no different from our usual exchanges, and yet, people failed to see the affection behind it,” he commented.

He further elaborated, clarifying that his gesture was merely a manifestation of a fatherly affection towards a younger co-star. “Why would I kiss her with ill intent on stage in public? Her parents were present as well,” Bedi asserted, dismissing claims that his behavior was inappropriate. He expressed concern that some individuals are quick to find fault, stating, “People are just eager to create issues out of nothing on social media.”

The incident gained notoriety after the trailer launch clip went viral, garnering a range of responses from viewers across various platforms. Despite the controversy, Bedi remains focused on the film Dhurandhar, which continues to perform well at the box office, marking a successful milestone in his career.
