This action followed reports from residents who claimed to have observed two individuals, believed to be terrorists, traversing a nearby rivulet towards a forested region. On the previous day, Lieutenant General P K Mishra, the GOC of the White Knight Corps, conducted a visit to forward positions in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district.
