Film producer Shailendra Singh has reignited discussions around the past relationship between Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, describing their romance as an “intense” and “violent love story.” In a recent interview, Singh reflected on incidents from that period while also emphasizing the need to respect Aishwarya’s privacy.

Dark Glasses at Events Sparked Industry Buzz

Recalling a controversial phase, Singh referred to an incident where Salman Khan allegedly went to Aishwarya Rai’s residence late at night. He also mentioned that Aishwarya once appeared at an awards event wearing dark glasses, which sparked widespread speculation at the time. Drawing a literary parallel, Singh compared their relationship to Romeo and Juliet, calling it emotionally charged and volatile.

When asked whether Aishwarya ever spoke to him about the episode or the reason behind wearing dark glasses at an awards function, he responded, “No, no. We weren’t that close. I knew her from the days of Rajeev Mulchandani (supermodel)? I think that was her first relationship, and she hasn’t had many relationships in the industry. She is a very private person. I think we should respect that.”

Shailendra told Siddharth Kannan, “I know of things. Aishwarya, at one point, was staying in the same building as Sachin Tendulkar, if you remember? And Salman went there and all that, you remember all of it?” He added, “Aishwarya came to an award show wearing dark glasses and stuff like that. As they say in Romeo and Juliet, it’s a violent love story. He’s a passionate guy, and she’s a very dignified, very respectful person, all of which I know of her. She’s brilliant.”

He described Salman as a deeply passionate individual, while portraying Aishwarya as dignified, composed, and respectful. Singh praised her grace and professionalism, stating that these qualities set her apart in the film industry.

When asked if Aishwarya ever confided in him about that phase of her life, Singh clarified that they were not close enough for such conversations. He noted that Aishwarya has always been extremely private and had very few relationships within the industry. He stressed that her silence should be respected, rather than speculated upon.

Singh also revealed that his long-standing friendship with Salman Khan ended following a professional disagreement. He had approached the actor with a commercial film project but felt humiliated when the meeting did not go as planned. According to Singh, the interaction left him deeply insulted, marking the end of their association.

In the same conversation, Singh fondly recalled noticing Aishwarya Rai when she was just 18 or 19 years old. He recounted how she began her career with small advertising assignments, earning modest fees before gradually rising through commercials to stardom. Singh described her as a graceful human being and questioned why someone of her stature is not considered the cultural custodian or brand ambassador of Bollywood.
